Enclosures Guide

Build secure, ecologically diverse enclosures to keep dinosaurs and guests safe

Create and build enclosures to house land, avian and marine species, ensuring your dinosaurs and guests stay safe from harm.

"Damn it, even Nedry knew better than to mess with the raptor fences." Robert Muldoon

Dinosaur Environments

Each type of dinosaur needs a slightly different enclosure to keep it happy and healthy. These habitats will have a direct effect on their Comfort rating, which you can learn more about in the Dinosaurs Guide.

Did You Know?

Some dinosaurs like lots of cover, so plant forest in their enclosures to give them somewhere to hide.

Enclosures

Enclosures will make up the majority of your park, as each dinosaur will need a different amount of space depending on the species and population size. Whether you’re cohabiting multiple types of dinosaurs or looking after a single species, well-maintained enclosures will help them form their Territory and fulfil their needs.

Dinosaur enclosures can be naturalistic, formed by terrain manipulation and Scenery pieces, or they can be created with Security Fences. Don’t forget to add to these environments with Nature brushes in line with each dinosaur’s Comfort Rating requirements.

How To Build an Enclosure

Enclosures are required to house your land-based animals safely in your parks.

  1. Open the Enclosures menu.
  2. Select Fences.
  3. Choose and select a Fence with an appropriate Security Rating for the animals that will be housed in the Enclosure.
  4. Place the Fence in your park, connecting nodes to create an enclosed area.
    1. Alternatively, make use of large rocks, steep terrain, or deep water to replace or supplement fences. Remember though, some animals can wade or swim through deep water!
  5. Once a fully enclosed area has been created using fences, terrain and objects, animals can safely be housed in the Enclosure.
  6. A gate will need to be attached to provide access to the Enclosure for Ranger Teams, MVUs and Maintenance ATV Teams. Gates can be found in the Enclosures menu and attached to suitable fences or placed alongside blocking scenery.
  7. Adjust the size of your Enclosure and place suitable Feeders for the animals that will be living there. Use Environment brushes to adjust the enclosure to match the preferences of your animals.
  8. Once built, decorate and further customise the appearance of your Enclosure using Scenery pieces. Attach a Hatchery, place a Delivery Zone or manually transport animals to live in your complete Enclosure.

Did You Know?

Constructing appropriate fencing for the types of dinosaurs living in the enclosure is essential. Large or powerful dinosaurs can easily break through the weaker fences.

Lagoons

Marine animals will need a lagoon type enclosure to be housed in your park.

Lagoons are a complex of one or more connected water environments that house marine animals. Lagoon Sections must be snapped to specific locations around their edge in order to form a large complex.

Lagoon in Jurassic World Evolution 3

Each complex needs a Lagoon Hatchery to function. This provides a way for Ranger and MVU Teams to Patrol within the Lagoon. They are also required to synthesise marine animals, although they are not required to transition marine animals into or out of Lagoons. Lagoon Viewing Galleries can also be attached to provide visibility to the marine animals inside.

How To Build a Lagoon

Lagoons are required to house marine animals safely in your parks.

  1. Open the Enclosures menu.
  2. Select Lagoons.
  3. Choose the Appearance of the Lagoon.
  4. Place the Lagoon Section in your park. Additional Lagoon Sections of the same type can be attached to create a larger single Lagoon.
  5. In order for marine animals to be monitored in a Lagoon, a Lagoon Hatchery must also be built, attached to the Lagoon and provided with Power.
  6. Adjust the size of your Lagoon by placing additional Lagoon Sections and place suitable Feeders for the marine animals living there.
  7. Once built, decorate and further customise the appearance of your Lagoons using Scenery pieces.

Aviaries

Flying reptiles will need an aviary type enclosure to be brought into your park.

Aviaries are a complex of one or more connected domes that can house flying reptiles. Aviary Domes must be snapped to specific locations around their edge in order to form a larger complex.

Aviary in Jurassic World Evolution 3

Each complex needs an Aviary Hatchery to function. This provides a way for Ranger and MVU Teams to Patrol within the Aviary, and to acquire and move flying reptiles into and out of it. Aviary Viewing Galleries can also be attached to provide visibility to the flying reptiles inside.

How To Build an Aviary

Aviaries are required to house flying animals safely in your parks.

  1. Open the Enclosures menu.
  2. Select Aviary Domes.
  3. Choose the Appearance of the Aviary Dome.
  4. Place the Aviary Dome in your park. Additional Aviary Domes of the same type can be attached to create a larger single Aviary.
  5. In order for flying animals to be housed and monitored in an Aviary, an Aviary Hatchery must also be built, attached to the Aviary Dome and provided with Power.
  6. Adjust the size of your Aviary by placing additional Aviary Domes and place suitable Feeders for the flying animals living there. Use Environment brushes to adjust the inside of the Aviary to match the preferences of your flying animal species.
  7. Once built, decorate and further customise the appearance of your Aviary using Scenery pieces.

Delivery Zones

Delivery Zones can be placed to provide alternative destinations for dinosaur deliveries. Dinosaurs can be grouped together, which decreases the space needed to deliver a large batch of animals at once.

When initiated from a Hatchery, or offsite, dinosaurs delivered to a Delivery Zone will arrive via Transport Crates. When delivered from anywhere else, or when too large, dinosaurs can still be delivered one at a time to Delivery Zones.

Transport Crate deliveries let you witness a release moment of the dinosaur within. This can be done by interacting with the crate or the notification after the crate touches down.

How To Build Delivery Zones

Delivery Zones can be used to manually or automatically transport groups of the same species to a dinosaur enclosure.

  1. Open the Enclosures menu.
  2. Select the Delivery Zone.
  3. Place the Delivery Zone within an enclosure.
  4. The Delivery Zone can now be used to deliver dinosaurs to your enclosure.

Nests

Nests are required for dinosaurs to breed naturally within an enclosure. Nests come in different shapes and sizes, which are suitable for different types of species. Individual dinosaur species will also have preferences for the placement of nests within their enclosure, for example preferring multiple nests to be placed together.

If you want to have success with natural breeding, it’s important that you check the nesting requirements for a dinosaur before placing a nest.

How To Build a Nest

Nests are an essential addition to your enclosures if you want your dinosaurs to breed naturally.

  1. Open the Enclosures menu.
  2. Select the type of nest you’d like to place.
  3. Choose the Appearance of the nest or create a Custom Design.
  4. Place the nest in your enclosure. Consider the type of nest used and its placement depending on the preferences of the species living in the enclosure. Any Nest Preferences for the species in the enclosure will be displayed when placing the nest. These can also be viewed in the Nest Preferences tab after placement.
  5. Once a suitable nest is placed and matches the preferences of the animals in the enclosure, it will be used as a nesting site for natural eggs.

Environmental Needs

When building an enclosure, it’s important to tailor it to the dinosaur species that will be living within. Different species have different preferences for the type of terrain, plants and volume of water available within their Territory.

Learn more about Territory and Environment Needs in the Dinosaurs Guide.

Did You Know?

Some dinosaurs prefer to have plenty of space to roam and can become agitated if they feel too confined.

Security

Building secure enclosures isn’t just about keeping your guests safe, it’s also about ensuring your dinosaurs stay healthy too.

Did You Know?

Gates can be manually opened for dinosaurs. Try building enclosures with multiple areas!

Security Rating

Jurassic World Evolution 3 - DIN - Security Sector

Each dinosaur has a Security Rating which indicates their ability to breach fences if they decide to attempt to escape.

Minimise the risk of escape by using Fences with the appropriate Security Rating for each enclosure. A fence of equal or higher Security Rating to a dinosaur can never be broken by that dinosaur.

Some species are unable to break or jump any fence but can still injure themselves attempting to. Powered fences can lose their Security Rating if they become unpowered. This can lead to a dinosaur escape.

Did You Know?

Dinosaur escapes can be lethal for people nearby, so build Emergency Shelters to protect them.

Security Cameras

If a dinosaur becomes a threat to guests within the viewing range of a Security Camera, that Security Camera will automatically detect the dinosaur and call a Capture Team to Tranquilise it.

In order for a Security Camera to detect and respond to a rampaging dinosaur within its range, it needs Power and a Capture Team assigned to its Patrol. Get more information about powering your park and using Capture Teams in the Operations Guide.

Security Cameras do not need to point inside enclosures to be effective when dinosaurs become a threat to guests. Use bottlenecks in a site’s layout to minimise the required Security Camera coverage, or only cover regions where guests are located.

Did You Know?

Never underestimate a dinosaur. Even the smallest dinosaur can be dangerous when angered or threatened.

Ranger Posts

Ranger Teams can be assigned to Ranger Posts. They will automatically carry out Status Checks on dinosaurs within range of their assigned post, and resupply and disinfect feeders in range as well.

You can also assign Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) and Capture teams to a Ranger Post to have them monitor nearby dinosaurs for disease or enclosure breakouts.
