Attractions Guide
Attracting Guests is integral to building a successful park
To create a bustling park and draw guests in you’ll need to build Attractions to entertain your visitors.
"Hold on to your butts!" Ray Arnold
Creating Appeal
Guests might come to your park to see the dinosaurs, but to be a commercial success and create Appeal, you will need to build Attractions that keep them happy as well. The total Appeal of a park is calculated from the Visible Dinosaurs and Entertainment Attractions combined, but can be reduced by a lack of Species Variety.
Appeal
Appeal draws Guests to the park and mainly comes from the visible dinosaurs within a park. The higher the Appeal, the more Guests will want to come and visit.
Each species of dinosaur has a unique base Appeal value that is further boosted when they’ve been naturally bred, or if they’re a Juvenile. Well-cared-for Juveniles will also grow into adulthood with an additional boost to their Appeal.
Some Entertainment Attractions provide a static amount of Appeal, but most derive their Appeal from the dinosaurs they can see.
The higher the Appeal of dinosaurs within view of Attractions the higher this will raise the overall guest count in that area. Depending on the Attraction used, different Guest demographics will dominate that local area respectively.
How To Increase Appeal
A high total appeal will attract more guests to your park, directly increasing your revenue.
- Ensure your dinosaurs are visible to guests. Build Viewing Galleries and Platforms to increase the number of dinosaurs visible to your guests.
- Synthesise more dinosaurs. Your park will have a minimum Species Target so the wider the variety of dinosaurs in your park, the higher your Appeal bonus. If you don’t reach the Species Target, this negatively affects your Appeal score.
- Breed and care for juvenile dinosaurs. Well cared for juvenile dinosaurs will add to your park’s appeal score both as juveniles and when they become adults.
- Build Entertainment Attractions. Attractions such as the Innovation Centre will have a base Appeal score. Whereas attractions such as the Cretaceous Cruise, Balloon Tour and Dinosaur Encounter derive their Appeal score from the Local Dinosaurs in the area.
Visibility
Your Park’s Appeal will only be affected by the dinosaurs in view of guests so it’s important to think about visibility when planning the layout of your attractions.
Dinosaur Appeal can only be used to draw guests to the site if they can be seen from a Viewing Attraction. Use the Dinosaur Visibility View Mode to identify any gaps in the coverage of Viewing Attractions.
Keep your dinosaurs’ Comfort in mind as well when thinking about visibility – for example some species will only be comfortable when their nests are out of view.
Viewing Attractions with high Appeal will likely become congested with guests. Plan the site around this with wider Paths and alternative Viewing Attractions to disperse the crowds. Take advantage with Amenities in the same areas to increase site income.
