Park Manager's Toolbox - Open Air Aviaries
Welcome, Park Managers
Jurassic World Evolution 3: Rebirth Expansion introduced open air aviaries for your parks. Let's explore creative tips and tricks for your flying species!
Open air aviaries take your enclosures to new heights, perfect for flying species like the Mutadon and Cearadactylus.
Building Amazing Aviaries
Open air aviaries can be placed down in the same way as a standard aviary. You can then use scenery pieces, terrain tools and foliage to really make it your own.
For a deeper look into building open air aviaries, check out our Jurassic World Evolution 3: Rebirth Expansion guide!
Terrain Tools
Utilising terrain tools will allow you to adjust terrain heights, creating interesting multi-level enclosures for your dinosaurs. Open air aviaries have higher build restrictions compared to normal aviaries, so the terrain and your flying species can go higher.
Add in some water and you can create beautiful pools and waterfalls, plus you can even set up a Cretaceous Cruise to pass through your aviary!
Scenery Pieces
With hundreds of new scenery pieces included in Jurassic World Evolution 3: Rebirth Expansion, your customisation options have opened up even further.
Let your creativity soar, placing these in and around your open air aviary to add to the immersive experience for your guests.
Perch Spots
As a part of Free Update 1.3, you can now add two new custom perch points to your aviaries. These can be placed or added to scenery and blueprints, and allow flying species, like the Cearadactylus, to perch almost anywhere.
Creative Ideas:
- Ancient Temple Ruins - use the Mayan-inspired scenery pieces or ready-made blueprints to create a themed aviary for your Mutadon that's worthy of the history books. Add foliage not just to meet the enclosure needs of your dinosaurs, but to add to the visual impact of your aviary.
Check out ZSHplays video for inspiration:
- Caeradactylus Cruise - the Cretaceous Cruise can now pass through aviaries. Utilise terrain and water tools and build your cruise path to run through the aviary so your guests get a whole new viewing experience for checking out the Caeradactylus.
- Add a rock arch for your cruise to pass through and under, and add a perch point for the Cearadactylus too. Here's a great one by Gbp4ever96 on the Frontier Workshop.
- Dragon's Keep - build your open air aviary within an impressive fantasy castle structure - the perfect home for your Thanatosdraken.
- This Castle Kit from Evolution Square will give you a perfect starting point!
Don't forget a power supply!
Open air aviaries keep flying dinosaurs in using a sonic barrier, if that barrier loses power it will shut down - giving your flying species the perfect escape opportunity!
One way to keep power flowing throughout your park is by harnessing geothermal power, a new addition with Jurassic World Evolution 3: Rebirth Expansion. By carefully building and managing a vast network of underground pipes, you can ensure a steady distribution of power across your facility (and hopefully stop any escapes!).
