DIN Staff Files - Get to know the Scientists

Hello DIN employees!

Our last post in the ‘Get to know the Teams’ series was very popular, so now let’s hear from our Scientists at the Dinosaur Integration Network.

Let’s learn a bit about what they do in an average day from one of our Scientists, Thomas.

Well, the structure of what we do every day can vary depending on each site’s need and our scientists’ personal skillsets. I’m pretty skilled in logistics, if I say so myself, so I spend most of my time going out on digs to collect fossils. Fossils & amber allow us to complete genome sequences and create our dinosaurs so it’s a pretty important job.

Recently, we’ve been looking for the material needed to synthesise the Irritator and other Wetland species!

Then, we’ll move to the Science Centre to extract the DNA so it’s available to be synthesised in our Hatcheries. From there, we pass those synthesised dinosaurs on to our Ranger Teams who take care of them in the parks.

Other scientists might be more focused on research tasks , developing new innovations to improve everything across our parks from dinosaur care to amazing attractions that help guests truly appreciate our dinosaurs.

It’s a fantastic feeling bringing these prehistoric species back into the world and working at DIN to see them thrive; especially the juveniles!”.

Don’t forget to come back to learn more about the other key teams at the Dinosaur Integration Network!
